Career Day, Job Fairs & Festivals
Roane County promotes career exploration as a great introduction to the world of work. Opportunities abound in Roane County for pursuing an education. We recommend this path for career development exploration: Learn about careers you may never have considered before and what it take to prepare for them; begin thinking about and planning a career path; meet new people (business leaders, entrepreneurs and employers) and start networking.
Roane County Chamber's Education and Workforce Development Committees work together with the county schools to host an annual High School Career Exploration Day. Since 2009, the month of May has included Career Day. More than 500 Roane County high school juniors come dressed and ready with resumes, handshakes, notepads and questions to meet with representatives from approximately 50 different businesses.
Career Day is made possible because of the combined support of the Roane Alliance, Roane County Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, Roane County Schools, Roane State Community College, the Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Harriman and the many businesses that are participating.
This year, the High School Career Exploration Day is on March 12, 2020.
